My Smokey Bear Collection
My love for camping and the Adirondacks convinced me at a young age that I wanted to be a Forest Ranger, when I grew up. Little did I know that the Forestry educational requirements were the same as a pre-med degree. I majored in Theatre instead. In second grade I found out that the U.S. Forest Service in Washington, D.C. would convey on me the honor of being a Smokey Bear Jr. Forest Ranger, with all rank and privileges. Thus began my career as a Jr Forest Ranger. I would write to the US Forest Service in Washington, D.C. and send monthly reports on my activities and I would request official posters, book marks and any other goodies for my official duties. They would send me the requested supplies on a regular basis. Much to my mother's and later my wife's dismay, I never threw away anything that I got from the US Forest Service or from the Forestry Service of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. So below is my collection which needs a good home (to the highest bidder).
